New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Doug Elliot Romero, 35, on Monday, December 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Wade Broussard officiating. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 2, 2013, from 10:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Romero passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013, at 8:14 AM in a New Iberia hospital. He was a Lead Operator with Field Wood, LLC formerly Apache. He was a car enthusiast and loved restoring cars.

Above all, his wife, children and family were his whole world. Doug was the most kind hearted and giving person. He had the most fund loving personality. He had a passion for anything to do with automobiles. He was the best friend any one could ask for.

He is survived by his wife, Monique Fontenot Romero of New Iberia; his children, Gage Elliott Romero and Kinly Klair Romero both of New Iberia; his parents, Bobby and Miranda Meyers Romero of New Iberia; his sister, Danielle Romero of Springfield, MO; his maternal grandmother, Flo Rita Meyers of New Iberia; his paternal grandfather, Roosevelt Romero of New Iberia; his brother, Lonnie Romero of New Iberia; his best friends, Brooks and Kari Judice both of New Iberia; his godfather, Glenn Blaze Meyers of Cleveland, OH; his godchildren, Kriseen Bourque, Ian Breaux and Kullen Judice; his father-in-law, Eugene Fontenot, Jr. of New Iberia; his mother-in-law, Patrice Armentor Fontenot of New Iberia; his brother-in-law, Matthew Fontenot and his wife Ashley of New Iberia and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Hilton Meyers; his paternal grandmother, Loretta Maturin Romero and his godmother, Cynthia Meyers Romero.

Pallbearers will be Brooks Judice, Lonnie Romero, Matthew Fontenot, Randall Breaux, Jr., Rene Romero and Jordy Blanchard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gage Romero, Bobby Romero and Eugene Fontenot.
