Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Alfred Al Buteaux, Jr., 56, on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 1:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Scott Dugas officiating. Interment will be in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 9:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 6:00 PM.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Buteaux passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 6:05 PM in Jeanerette.Al was a quiet outdoorsman who treasured the simple things in life. He worked as a welder, a plumber, a carpenter and a farmer. Since he was a young boy, he enjoyed cat-fishing, hunting, frogging and camping out. He was a brave and adventurous man and spent years in the Atchafalaya Basin and the local bayous and waterways. His main outdoor passion in life was crawfishing, especially at his favorite country place which was his Grandfathers beloved farm and crawfish pond. Al was a kind-hearted person and often gave his last dollar to help anyone else in need. Along with his Grandfather, Papa Toad and his Father, he loved raising various farm animals. He was also known for rescuing and feeding any injured, lost or abandoned animal. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews in the country and will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends and his girlfriend Robin. He was a wonderful son and took care of his parents for years in his later life. He will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his father, Alfred G. Buteaux, Sr. of Jeanerette; his brother, Robert J. Bobby Buteaux and his wife Cynthia of New Iberia; his sisters, Brenda B. Landry and her husband Mark of New Iberia, Pamela B. Desormeaux of Galveston, TX, Kim B. Coleman and her husband Lat of New Iberia, Tracey B. Etie and her husband Terry of Loreauville and Lisa B. Himel and her husband Jed of New Iberia; his godchildren, Anita Landry Helveston and Katie Klingler; his girlfriend, Robin Hebert of Coteau and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia LeBlanc Buteaux and his brother-in-law, Kevin J. Desormeaux.
Pallbearers will be Robert J. Bobby Buteaux, Mark A. Landry, Lat Coleman, Terry Etie, Jed Himel and Kenneth Ritter, Jr. MD.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robby Buteaux, Zach Buteaux, Tommy Dore, Michael ODonnell, Van Mestayer, Kyle Myers, Jeff Landry, Douglas Viator, Michael Landry, Kirk Derouen, David Falterman and Dan Broussard.
