Jerome "Whitey" Migues

Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Jerome Patrick Whitey Migues, 73, on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 1:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Entombment will follow in St. John Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Migues passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013, at 5:15 PM in a New Iberia hospital. He started working as young child as a delivery boy for Telota Grocery Store and was served breakfast by many customer. Later after high school, Jeanerette High School, he started working at J & L Engineering, now Honiron Iron for many years. This job took him too many countries and he loved telling stories about his trips. After many years he started his own business, Jerome Whitey Welding & Repair Service, working mostly on sugar cane equipment. Sugar industry was in his blood. After working hours at his shop friends would meet and would share afternoon talk and some type of REFRESHMENT.

He was in the Louisiana National Guard in the 60s and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. So very proud of his daughter and son for what they accomplished and the independence they showed. Love of his life was his 5 grandchildren and he loved them in each a special way. Support of great family and friends will get us through this difficult time.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Pat Broussard Migues of Jeanerette; his daughter, Tanya Rosamond and her husband Tam; his son, Jarrod Migues and his wife Tanya of Youngsville; his grandchildren, Thomas and Stephen Rosamond, Cecily, Gavin and Amelie Migues; his mother-in-law, Flo Rita Broussard of Jeanerette; his brother-in-law, Harold Broussard, Jr. and his wife Becky of Jeanerette; his brother, Arthur Migues and his wife Rosalie of Jeanerette; his sister-in-law, Sarah Migues of Jeanerette; his brother-in-law, James Thibodeaux of New Iberia and his godchildren, Roxanne Castille, Gisele Sherville, Kevin Bonin, Tasha Broussard Romero and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lidier Migues and Enola Sanders Migues; his brothers, Martin and Wilbur Migues; his sisters, Daisy Bell Landry, Madeline Morris and Henrietta Thibodeaux and his father-in-law, Harold Broussard, Sr.

Pallbearers will be his 1st grandchild and very special to him, Thomas Rosamond, Jarrod Migues, Tam Rosamond, Harold Broussard, Jr., James Thibodeaux and Keith Morris.

The family would like to thank all for so much lovely care shown to Jerome, from Dr. Darvin Hales & Staff, Dr. Leonard Bourgeois & Staff, Dr. Paul Gulotta & Staff, Dr. Gupta, Dr. Ramirez and Dr. Burt Bujard, Dr. Thomas Falterman and Iberia Medical Center ICU nurses and the nurses on 2nd floor. The care given was excellent.
