Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Eldridge E. Zenon, Sr., the former Gracie Jeanminette, 87, will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Curtis Mallet officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 8:00AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at 9:00AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Mrs. Zenon a native of Jeanerette and a resident of Abbeville passed away peacefully at 9:03AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Born on August 2, 1923 Mrs. Zenon was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed cooking, and having her family around her. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church; a strong and devoted Christian woman; continuously praying daily and watching EWTN. She also enjoyed an occasional ride to the casino and playing Cadillac with her children and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory and in Gods care three daughters, Linda Provost and her husband Willis of New Iberia, Ann Zenon of Abbeville, and Cathy Nelson and her husband Benjamin, Sr. of Abbeville; two sons, Eldridge E. Zenon, Jr. and his wife Jacqueline of Abbeville and Joseph B. Zenon and his wife Herly of Abbeville; a brother, Horace Jeanminette of Jeanerette; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends. She now joins in glory her husband, Eldridge E. Zenon, Sr.; her parents, Uramis and Clarise Boutte Jeanminette; a sister, Lena Jeanminette Broussard; a great granddaughter, Joli A. Nelson; a great grandson, Wallace Zenon. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Provost, Jr., Chad Zenon, Benjamin Nelson, Jr., Joseph B Zenon, Jr., Troy Boutte, and Gerald Sonnier. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Eldridge E. Zenon, Jr., Joseph B. Zenon, Sr., Willis Provost, Sr., Benjamin Nelson, Sr., Whitney Jeanminette, Sr., Steve Jeanminette, Sr., Felix Jeanminette, Elvis Jeanminette, Horace Jeanminette, Edna Z. Boutte, Eldridge E. Zenon, III., and Darrel Pillette. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses of the Cancer Center of Acadiana, the 2nd floor nurses of Lafayette General Medical Center, Dr. Deborah Johnson, Dr. Victoria Panelli, and the Miles Perret Cancer Service Center for their generosity, care and compassion shown to Mrs. Zenon during her brief illness.
