New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. James Herman Jim Simon, Age 77, at 2:00PM Monday July 18, 2011 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr Larry Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday July 18, 2011 from 11:00AM until service time. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Simon died Friday July 15, 2011 at 11:26AM in a Lafayette hospital. Mr. Simon obtained a BS from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1955 and served from 1956 " 1958 in the Strategic Air Command as a first lieutenant. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserve in 1966 attaining the rank of Captain. He was owner operator of Simons Glass Service on West Main in New Iberia. He served on the Board of Directors for Louisiana Glass Association. He was the devoted husband of Roberta Bostick Simon of New Iberia. Father of William David Simon and the grandfather of Jennifer and Alison Bryan. He was also a devoted stepfather of Liane W. Connor, Robyn W. Proper and Brenda W. Kulhanek. He was the grandfather of Christopher and Lindsay Raspino, Michelle, Michael Jr. and Korynn Kulhanek, George III and Colin Scheaffer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen Ducote Simon, Parents, Frank Haralson Simon and Mamie Barrouse Simon, daughter, Jean Ellen S. Bryan, granddaughter, Krystal Kulhanek and a brother, Samuel Gerald Simon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
