Ruby Sonnier Cassisa

New Iberia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Martin Cassisa, the former Ruby Sonnier on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 1:00PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Teche Catholic Church with Father Richard Green serving as the officiant. Visitation will begin on Friday November 4, 2011 at 10:00AM and end at 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue the following morning at 8:00AM until service time. Internment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Mrs. Cassisa passed away at a local nursing home on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 6:30PM. She was 84 years old. Ms. Ruby was the owner and operator of The Sausage Kitchen for eleven years. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing and music, playing bingo, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Counsel of Aging. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her sons, Angelo Cassisa and wife Cindy of New Iberia, and Vincent Cassisa and wife Donna of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Theresa Reno of Patterson, Clara Roy of Patterson, Martin Cassisa of Walker, Anthony Cassisa of Grand Isle, Jennifer Cassisa of New Iberia, Jonathan Dorsey of New Iberia, and Barry Viator of New Iberia; eight great-grandchildren; and Companion Murphy Solar of New Iberia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Cassisa; her parents, Felix and Odeal Bergeron Sonnier; two daughters, Stella Cassisa Roy, and Clara Cassisa Mayer; three grandchildren, Anita Roy, Vincent Roy, and Crystal Gayle Mayer; and three sisters, Beulah White, Eula Hurlbut, and Pearl Comeaux.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Vincent Cassisa, Martin Cassisa, Anthony Cassisa, Jennifer Cassisa, Jonathan Dorsey, and Barry Viator.
