Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Curliss Paul Vincent, 86, will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 11:00AM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 8:00AM until the time of the service. Interment with full military honors by the Marine Corps League and the Erath American League Honor Guard will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. A native and lifelong resident of Erath Mr. Vincent met his Lord at 8:50PM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Abbeville General Hospital. Curliss attended Erath High School and trade school as an electrician. He worked for his father on his farm planting, cultivating, and harvesting corn, sugar cane, and cotton; and tended livestock, and horses. At the age of eighteen, he was inducted at New Orleans, LA on the 24th day of January 1945 to serve NATL EMERG years in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific Area from August 13, 1946. Curliss, Private First Class, was honorably discharged from the First Separation Company, MCB San Diego, California and from the United States Marine Corp on October 13, 1946 as a Guard 522 as a rifle marksman. After serving his country, he worked at several jobs and in the oilfield. He became self employed as a farmer, owner of a service station, and later Vincents Slaughter House. He was always ready to give someone a helping hand if they needed. He was instrumental in acquiring the property from the Caldwells in the early seventies in forming Charleys Field for Erath. He coached Little League and Senior League boys baseball and also coached the girls in the Erath Softball League. The following are several distinguished awards he held: 1966-Council 3872 Knight of the year, Erath; 1967-1968- Council 3872 Outstanding Knight of the year, Erath; 1967-1968- Citizen of the year, Erath; 1977 Council 3872 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Knights of Columbus; 1980- In appreciation for your time and effort in Erath Baseball; For you years of service as President of Erath Softball League. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 279 Erath and the VFW Post 4158 for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a friend to many. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 61 years, Carmen Broussard Vincent of Erath who he married November 24, 1951; a son, Paul Neil Vincent of Erath; a daughter, Ruth Claire Broussard and her husband Thad of Erath; eight grandchildren, Jacob Paul Vincent, Adena Elizabeth Dena-Beth Vincent, Wyatt Paul Vincent, Emily Kaye Delahoussaye Strang and her husband Robert, Celeste Nicole Delahoussaye, twins Natalie Claire and Joshua Thad Broussard, and John Michael Broussard; five great grandchildren, Staley Alisse Vincent, Logan Paul Vincent, Jolie Theres Vincent, Matthew Robert Strang, and Madison Bernard who he looked at as one of his own; and numerous niece, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by a sister in law, Inez LeBlanc Vincent; a brother in law, Warren James Broussard and his wife Georgann; three god children, Tommy Vincent, Curt Menard, and Edgar John Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Deusard Vincent, Sr. and Elda Broussard Vincent; a brother, Joseph Deusard J.D. Vincent, Jr.; and a great grandchild Alexander Mikeal Strang. Serving as pallbearers will be the Marine Corps League. Readers will be Jude Broussard and Leigh Collier. David Funeral Home of Erath at 209 E.
