Robert Peter "Poopsie" Gerami Sr.

Jeanerette " A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Robert Peter "Poopsie" Gerami Sr., Age 95, at 2:00PM Wednesday May 15, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Mausoleum. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00AM until service time with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.

A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Poopsie as he was affectionately known, passed away on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 2:25PM at his residence in Jeanerette.

Mr. Gerami was a past member of the American Legion Post 26 and VFW post 8150. He served his country in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. Serving as a Cook and Italian Interpreter during World War II, Mr. Gerami participated in the European Theater including campaigns in Germany, France, Italy, and North Africa.

Mr. Gerami was a self employed house painter for over 50 years. He enjoyed listening to music in his spare time and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Survivors include his children, Mary G. Hebert and husband Gerald and Jovana Gerami both of Jeanerette and Timothy J. Gerami and wife Jadi of Lafayette; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Selina Hebert Gerami; son, Robert Peter Gerami, Jr.; parents, Peter Gerami and Jovanna Joncola Gerami; grandson, Anthony Gerami; brothers, August, Johnny, Joseph, and Victor Gerami; sisters, Mary G. Mouret, Elizabeth G. Domingues, Anna Hebert, and Rose Gulotta

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be his grandsons.

The family would especially like to thank Rosemary Tauriac, Elizabeth Pony Boutte, Elaine Landry and Kim Judice for the loving care given to both Mr. and Mrs. Gerami. The family would also like to thank Heart of Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.
