Rena Mae Delaney

November 24, 1929 — February 26, 2014

Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Sam Delaney, the former Rena Mae Hebert, age 84, on Saturday March 1, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Church at 10:00am with Father Jody Simoneaux to serve as the Officiant. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Friday February 28, 2014 beginning at 9:00am and concluding at 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday March 1st, from 8:00am until service time. A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Delaney passed away on Wednesday February 26, 2014 at 8:55pm at a Lafayette nursing home. Mrs. Delaney was a home body, she enjoyed staying in and reading, as well as taking care of her husband, Mr. Sam Delaney. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Delaney was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and will be deeply missed. Mrs. Delaney is survived by her daughter, Peggy Fabre and husband Terry of Scott; grandchildren, Kerry Fabre of Scott, Kyle Fabre and wife Michelle of Scott; great grandchildren, Gavin Fabre of Scott, Harley Fabre of Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Delaney; parents, Clabert and Melodia Gary Hebert; siblings, Gray Hebert, Jules Hebert, Lee Hebert, Mary Hebert, Evelyn Smith, Rita Pepper, and Theresa Lancon. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to thank Magnolia Estates and Amedisys Hospice for all of their care and compassion.
