Neuville John Sonnier

Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Neuville John Sonnier, 76, on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Masuoleum with Military Gravside Rites conducted by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 PM. A native of Youngsville and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Sonnier died on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 5:51 AM in a Broussard nursing facility. He owned and worked at Sonnier's Cracklings for 52 years. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam Era having served in the U. S. Navy for four years and held the rank of Aviation Machinist's Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class. He loved baseball, horse racing and the casino. He is survived by his wife, Verna Mae Dubois Sonnier of Jeanerette; his son, Keith Sonnier of Lafayette; his daughter, Donna Guillotte and her husband Richard of Jeanerette; his daughter-in-law, Charlotte C. Sonnier of Jeanerette; his grandchildren, Jace Guillotte, Tyler M. Sonnier both of Jeanerette and Jill Guillotte Derouen and her husband Jeff of New Iberia; his great grandchildren, Amelia and Elise Derouen both of New Iberia and his brother, Lois Sonnier of Jeanerette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sonnier and Catherine Smith Sonnier and his son, Mark Edward Sonnier. Pallbearers will be Keith Sonnier, Tyler M. Sonnier, Jeff Derouen, Richard Guillotte, Jace Guillotte and Randall Dubois. The family would like to thank Post Acute Specialty Hospital and Camelot of Broussard for the care given to Mr. Sonnier.
