Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Raymond H. Schexnayder, the former Emily Ransonet, age 94 will be held on Friday March 21, 2014 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Thursday March 20, 2014 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume on Friday March 21, 2014 from 8:00am until service time. A native and longtime resident of Jeanerette, "Aunt Tee" as she was affectionately known passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 5:37pm at a local nursing facility with her family by her side. Emily enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking large family meals for the holidays and special family gatherings. Mrs. Schexnayder was an excellent seamstress and spent a great deal of time sewing for herself, her daughter, and her grandchildren. Emily will be forever remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother to her four children and as a true friend to the many people who had the good fortune of having made her acquaintance. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Raymond J. Schexnayder and wife Cynthia of Jeanerette, Jerome Schexnayder and wife Dona of New Iberia, Johnny Schexnayder and wife Vicki of Jefferson Island; daughter, Judy LeBlanc of New Iberia; grandchildren, Heather LeMaire and husband Colby, Renee Busby and husband Henry II, Tisha Dooley and husband Ross, Amy Mannina and husband Jason, Mike Schexnayder, Angelle Cormier and husband John; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Schexnayder; parents, Amar and Marie Landry Ransonet; brother, Leroy Ransonet; sisters, Ruby Robicheaux and Myrtle Hebert. Pallbearers will be Dr. R.J. Schexnayder, Jerome Schexnayder, Johnny Schexnayder, Michael Schexnayder, J. Frank LeBlanc, and Brian Schexnayder. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Schexnayder, Rodney Schexnayder, Gordon Ransonet, and Lonnie Scott. The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the staff of Consolata Nursing Home for the kind attention and loving care she received while a resident in the facility. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to Mrs. Geralyn Segura and Mrs. Pearl Etienne for the loving care and devotion given Mrs. Schexnayder while in the nursing home.
