Olive Romero Dartez

New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Olive Romero Dartez, 86, on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Burial will follow in Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday, March 21, 2014, from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM. Born in Iberia Parish and a lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dartez died on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 5:45 AM at her residence. She was a parishioner at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching football, especially the Saints and LSU. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Arcement, Terry Magar and her husband Richard, Gwen LeBlanc and her husband Kenny, Ellen Abney and her husband Mark, Darla David and her husband Richard all of New Iberia and Deena Cook and her husband Paul of Pierre Part; her sons, Robert Dartez and his wife Deborah of Kingwood, TX and John "Pete" Dartez and his wife Lisa of New Iberia; her sister, Evelyn Kirby of Orange, TX; her brother, Lester Romero of New Iberia; 30 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raoul and Annie Louviere Romero; her sons, Michael Dartez and James Edward Dartez; her sisters, Anna Mae Dartez, Lena Robins and Hilda Boudreaux; her brothers, Philip Romero, John Romero, Allen Romero and Noah Romero and her best friend, Jean Dartez. Pallbearers will be Robert Arcement, Marcus Abney, Kristian Magar, Quinn David, Shawn Cook, Ryan Dartez and Shannon LeBlanc. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Ms. Jerrie Jacobs. The family prefers memorials to the Wounded Warriors Project at P. O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
