Coteau- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ridge Poirrier, the former Shirley Ann Touchet, age 73, will be held on Friday March 28, 2014 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor with Father Barry Crochet to serve as the Celebrant. Reading from sacred scripture will be Ashley Poirrier and Tiffany Poirrier Dorsey. Giftbearers will be Brenda Poirrier Hite and Scarlet Poirrier. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday March 27, 2014 at 9:00am until 10:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Friday March 28, 2014 from 8:00am until 10:15am. A native of Erath and longtime resident of Coteau, Mrs. Poirrier passed away on Wednesday March 26, 2014 at 12:20am at Iberia Medical Center. Mrs. Poirrier was born on November 27, 1940 and was the daughter of Saul and Alida Touchet. Mrs. Poirrier was the owner and operator of R and S Grocery in Coteau for more than 20 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her door was always open whether you were family, friend, or a stranger. She cherished her dogs, Jack and Reba, her rose garden, and enjoyed visiting and drinking coffee with family and friends. She is survived by her four sons, Brent Poirrier Sr. and wife Charlene, Mark Poirrier and wife Nikki, Brady Poirrier Sr. and wife Linda, Marty Poirrier and wife Melissa; one daughter, Linda Lejeune and husband Curtis; one sister, Betty Veazey and husband Ronnie; one brother, Dalton Bouillion; 12 grandchildren, Brent Poirrier Jr., Brad Poirrier, Brenda Poirrier Hite, Beau Poirrier, Trent Romero, Travis Lejeune, Brady Poirrier Jr., Tiffany Poirrier Dorsey, Ashley Poirrier, Ridge Poirrier, Scarlet Rice, Scarlet Poirrier; 10 great grandchildren, Tony, Alayna, Cheyenne, Chloe, Zoey, Sara, and Chase Poirrier, Dalayna Hite, Trent Romero II, Adalyn Lejeune, and Peyton Toups. She was preceded in death by her husband Ridge Poirrier; Parents, Saul and Alida Touchet; sisters, Lillie Mae Touchet and Hazel Touchet; brother, Cyrus Touchet; sister-in-law, Mary Bouillion. Pallbearers will be Brent Poirrier Jr., Brad Poirrier, Trent Romero, Travis Lejeune, Brady Poirrier Jr., and Ridge Poirrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Beau Poirrier and Marty Poirrier. The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice and the 2nd Floor Nursing Staff at Iberia Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Mrs. Poirrier.
