Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. George Wesley Carter, 65, will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Crochet officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 11:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum. A native of Sumpter, SC and a resident of Coteau Mr. George died at 8:00PM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Glencoe. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Navy and was as member of USS Seattle Veterans Association Ships Crew of 1969 till 2005. He was also a loving husband and father who loved to hunt. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue Romero Carter of Coteau; a daughter, Sarah Rebecca Carter of Coteau; a grandson, Mason Tate of Coteau; a brother, Danny Carter of New Iberia; and a sister, Annette Shoop of Coteau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Edna Padgette Carter; and a brother, Richard "Ricky" Carter. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Romero, Nicholas LeJeune, Peter Romero, Danny Shoop, Joshua Hebert, and Richard Romero. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Danny Carter, Shelly LeJeune, and Butch Duncan. David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
