Youngsville – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Thomas Alfred Breaux, 95, will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, September 11, 2017 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Mouton officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

A native of Broussard and a long time resident of Youngsville, Mr. Breaux died at 10:30PM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a cannoner on a 155M. In November 1944 in the battle of Leyte in the Philippines Islands he was wounded, this caused him to be sent back to United States. Because he didn’t consider his wounds as severe as others, it wasn’t until 55 years later before he was presented with a Purple Heart by Major General Bennett Landreneau in a surprise ceremony at the Louisiana National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Postal service after over 30 years of service, then worked at R&J Oilfield Product were he finally retired at the age of 93 years old. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and working in his vegetable garden.

He is survived by a son, Daniel T. Breaux and his wife Suzanne of Lafayette; a daughter, Jaqueline Landry and her husband Roy of Youngsville; two grandchildren, Jason Charles Landry and Ashlyn Breaux Jennings and her husband David; and a great grandchild, Grayson Daniel Thomas Jennings.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Miguez Breaux; his parents, Ovey Paul Breaux and Martha Billeaud Breaux; four brothers, Lawrence Breaux, Paul Raymond Breaux, Hubert Breaux, and Charles Breaux; and four sisters, Lucille Breauxs Landry, Sr. Rose Aimee Breaux, Sr. Mary Llewlyn Breaux, and Ruth Breaux.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Landry, Darrel Miguez, Stacey Miguez, David Jennings, Roy Landry, and Kevin Landry.

Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Daniel Breaux.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Helen, a longtime family friend and caregiver to both Mr. and Mrs. Breaux.  They would also like to thank Mary, Sarah, and Janice for the special care they gave Mr. Breaux.
