Jeanerette – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Deacon Theo Landry, 76, at
11:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2017, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux, Father Charles Langlois and Deacon Jim Kincel officiating. Readings for the mass will be proclaimed by Deacon Jerry Bourg. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baldwin.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the David Funeral Home at 400 Provost St. in Jeanerette from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, December 11, 2017, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
A native of Baldwin, a resident of New Iberia and a long time resident of Jeanerette,
Deacon Theo passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 11:34 AM.
Deacon Theo was ordained a Deacon for the Diocese of Lafayette and was assigned to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette and was later assigned at Catholic Churches in Dural, Rynella and Lydia. After retirement he continued his ministry assisting with Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals.
A kind and gentle person, he touched so many lives, spreading God’s message with so much love and warmth and was very devoted to his ministry.
He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7050 in Rynella, served as President of the Jeanerette Little League Association and in 2004 he was inducted in the Iberia Parish Softball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Clara Mire Landry of New Iberia; his sons, State Trooper Cy Landry and his wife Michelle of New Iberia and Dr. Ted Landry and his wife Casey of Houston, TX; his brother, Joey Landry of Patterson; his sister, Elizabeth “Boo” Landry of Toledo Bend; his grandchildren, Kimberly Landry, Danielle Landry both of New Iberia, Abigail Landry, Caroline Landry, Luke Landry and Kevin Landry all of Houston, TX and his great grandson, Jake Foster of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodule J. Landry, Sr. and Doris Perro Landry; his brother, Errol Landry and his sister, Gail Hart.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kirk Prince, Kevin Duval, Kent Landry, Jack Hardy, Brian Faucheaux and Stuart Faucheaux.
