Gloria Broussard

Coteau – Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Harold Broussard, the former Gloria Chevalon, 83, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.

Visitation will be at the David Funeral Home 1101 Trotter St. in New Iberia on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, from 9:00 AM until 1:45 PM and a rosary will be prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group in the funeral home at 11:00 AM.

A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of New Iberia Mrs. Broussard passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 10:34 AM upon arrival at Iberia Medical Center.

She was a nurse’s aide having worked in nursing homes. She was also a cook of the Nuns at Mount Carmel in New Iberia. She enjoyed cook for her family and loved family, especially her grandchildren, her great grand children and her great great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Broussard of New Iberia; her son, Mitchell Broussard and his wife Martin of Ocala, FL; her daughter, Jodie Derouen and her husband Malcolm of New Iberia; her sisters, Mildred Boutte of New Iberia, Jeanette Viator of Youngsville and Mary Joyce Romero of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Lisa Kempter, Stacey Sweeney, David Derouen and Leah Hollis and nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Etienne Chevalon, Sr. and Clodora Lopez Chevalon; her sister, Evelyn Viator, her brothers, Howard Chevalon, Etienne Chevalon and Austin Chevalon and her grandchild, Felicia Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Malcolm Derouen, David Derouen, Devin Sweeney, Drake Sweeney, Shane Romero, J. D. Kempfer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dax Sweeney and John Tyler Kempfer.
