Karen "Kay" Anne Hippler

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Karen “Kay” Ann Schexnayder Hippler, 82, on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Alexander Albert as Celebrant, Pastor of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Recitation of the Rosary will be prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

A resident of New Iberia, Kay was born on December 22, 1934 in Jeanerette to Isby Schexnayder and Julia Weber Schexnayder of Jeanerette. Karen went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, peacefully at her residence with her family at her side. She became a resident of New Iberia when she wed Charles Wofford Hippler on September 12, 1954, sixty-three years ago. She was a Parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia, graduate of Jeanerette High School, worked for 25 years for New Iberia Bank and was a breast cancer survivor. Karen was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing cards and tennis. She considered Marion and Vernon J. Bouligny her best friends and traveled with them and others extensively throughout the United States and Canada.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Woffard Hippler Of New Iberia; two sons, Robert Hippler and wife Teresa of New Iberia and Michael Hippler of New Iberia; two daughters, Karen Lehmann and husband Richard of Broussard and Nancy Hippler Robicheaux and fiancé Michael Behrnes of Broussard; six grandchildren, Ben Hippler and fiancé Danielle Wagner, Bonnie Hippler, Kevin Hippler, Karl Lehmann, Kimberly Lehmann and Kristin Guilbeau; one great-granddaughter, Audrey Hippler; brother, Isby “T-Bay” Schexnayder and wife Julaine of New Iberia; sister, Judith Schexnayder of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isby Schexnayder and Julia Weber Schednayder.

Pallbearers will be Richard Lehmann, Karl Lehmann, Ben Hippler, Michael Hippler, Robert Hippler and Michael Behrnes.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation of the doctor and nurses of Bridgeway Hospice. A special thanks to Claudette Lallande, Michael Hippler (son), Karen Hippler Lehmann (daughter) for the loving care given throughout the years and her last days.
