New Iberia – Funeral services will be conducted for Cynthia K. “Cindy” Gaspard, 63, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. Robert Romero officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery in Pecan Island.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 19, 2018, from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the rosary service by the Men’s Rosary Group at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 8:00 AM until the service time.
Ms. Gaspard passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in a Lafayette hospital.
An Abbeville native and resident of New Iberia, Ms. Gaspard graduated from New Iberia Senior High in 1972. Sometime afterwards, she began working at the Pentagon for a few years before working in the oilfield doing various jobs. She ended her successful career co-managing Port Electric and Crawfish Haven with her husband, Floyd. Throughout her life she enjoyed nature, playing cadillac, and entertaining family and friends. Cindy was known for her generosity and always taking care of others. These days, you could have found her watching her favorite show, NCIS, entertaining her grandchildren, or working hard behind her desk at Port Electric.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Copell of Lafayette, Brody Copell and his wife Danielle of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Gage and Eli Copell of New Iberia; her brothers, Gerald Gaspard and his wife Sheryl of Mandeville, Marcus Gaspard of New Iberia, Randy Gaspard and wife Sandra of New Iberia; her sisters, Susie Gaspard of New Iberia, Teri Lasseigne of New Iberia, and Kim Waguespack of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Copell and her beloved fur-child Ripley; her brothers Mitchell and Ricky Gaspard; and her parents Weston and Isabell Gaspard.
Pallbearers will be Drew Lassiegne, Brandon Gaspard, Jared Gaspard, Corey Picard, Anthony Picard, and Bennett Dungan.
Honorary pallbearers Gage Copell, Eli Copell, Megan Gaspard.
