Audrey May Kern

Jeanerette - A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Audrey Mae Kern, age 90, at 11:00 AM on June 12, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Jody Simoneaux, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, as celebrant.  Entombment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Monday June 11, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 8:30 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.

Audrey was a lifelong resident of Jeanerette.  She died peacefully at her residence on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:45 AM.  She was a dedicated “Nanny” and Aunt to her 14 nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews.  Audrey worked for 60 years for the Roane family from the age of 16 until her retirement in 2004. She worked at Loisel Sugar Company, Albania Sugar Company then Jeanerette Sugar Company.

She is survived by her Nieces and nephews Francine Bonin, Renee Bonin Gary, Catherine Herring, Sister Theresa Joseph Bonin O.P., Tom and John Bonin, Vanessa LaFont, Laura Domangue, Rachel Hope, Steve Bergeron , Rae Ann Adams, Roxanne Gautreau, and  Merlin Kern Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Kern and Gertrude Alleman Kern, her sisters Marion Kern Bergeron and Beryl Kern Bonin, her brother Merlin Kern Sr. and her niece Claire Bonin Myers

Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be Tom and John Bonin, Rodney LaFont, Steve Bergeron, Merlin Kern Jr., and Russell Adams.  Honorary Pallbearers will be her brother-in-law’s Irvin Bergeron and Dr. Francis Bonin.
