New Iberia – Celebration of Life Gathering are pending for Benny C. Wicker, 65, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side.
Benny was a truck driver for over 40 years and had worked for Forward Air Freight. A veteran of the United States Army in Germany as a PFC E-3 as a Sharp Shooter and receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the U.S. Army Europe in the 3rd Battery 79th Division. When not on the road with work, he enjoyed fishing, yard work and playing string instruments. He was a workaholic who loved spending time finding something to do. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who came to Louisiana from Florida to be with his daughter.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Cheryl Walker Wicker of New Iberia; children, Stephanie Christ of Enterprise, FL, Benjamin Wicker of Macon, GA, Jean Allen of New Iberia, Rudy Wicker of Macon, GA and Heather Toups and husband Rowdy of New Iberia; two sisters, Dianne Wicker of Winter Haven, FL and Barbara Griner of Old Town, FL; two brothers, Jim Wicker and wife Linda of Freeport, FL and Benjamin Wicker and wife Josie of Bonifay, FL; eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Wicker and Dealia Mae Rayburn Wicker; daughter, Annie Wicker; sister, Cindy Walker and brother, Rodney Wicker.
