New Iberia - Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Jane “Jean” Goodwin, age 75, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at David’s Funeral Home Chapel of New Iberia with Father Keith Landry celebrating the services. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 3:00 PM until the time of 9:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM by the Men’s Rosary Group. Visitation will resume on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 8:00 AM until the time of services at 10:00 AM.
Mrs. Jean, as she was affectionately called, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 while she was surrounded by her loving family and her soft hands grasping her favorite cross. She truly had a heart for Christ and she was known for loving her neighbors and cooking for them. Some of her hobbies include baking, crocheting, seamstress, and talking in French. Also she was known for canning blackberries and melatons. Mrs. Jean knew no strangers and had a beautiful soul. Her memories will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Marion Goodwin of New Iberia, her daughter Gina Fountain and her husband Coy of New Iberia, her son Johnny Jackson and wife Sarah of New Iberia, son Bobby Jackson and wife Melissa, she is a step mother to the following Ethel Carmouche, Cathy Delcambre, Linda Moncada and Brenda Goodwin, her grandson Zachery Norwood and wife Jordyn, grandsons Bryson Fountain, Nicholas Jackson, Tyler Jackson; granddaughter Heidi Perkins and husband Josh, granddaughter Tori Fountain, step grandson Robert Grant, step grand daughter Elizabeth Williams Christopher, great-granddaughter Zoe Perkins, brother Wilfred Owens Jr. and wife Linda of Lafayette, sister Alice Hoofard and husband Clyde of New Iberia, sister Audry Zielke and husband Zeke of Michigan, sister Doris Burke and husband Lawless of New Iberia and sister Theresa Schouest of Avery Island.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. Wilfred Owens Sr. and Mrs. Lillian Landry Owens, step son Roger Goodwin, sisters Rita Gallager and Patricia Theriot, two brothers in law Francis Theriot and Timothy Schouest.
Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be Zachery Norwood, Bryson Fountain, Nicholas Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Mitch Owens and John Romero.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Jackson, Bobby Jackson and Coy Fountain
