Kenneth J. Stansbury, Sr.
December 17, 1938 — August 6, 2018
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 6:30 PM.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Stansbury passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018, at 7:16 AM at his residence.
He worked at J & L Honiron for 50 years and retired a few years ago. He was an avid athlete when he was younger. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard.
His love of basketball lead him to continue playing well into his twenties. He and his teammates won numerous tournaments. He coached many kids and umpired baseball when his kids were growing up.
Everyone who met him liked him. When he was still working, his friends would go drink coffee with him every morning. He would make the coffee but never drink it.
He is survived by his children, Naomi S. Linn and her husband Stoney of New Iberia, Laurie S. Stovall and her husband Buddy of Jeanerette and Kenneth Stansbury, Jr. and his wife Samantha of New Iberia; his brothers, Antoine Stansbury, Jr. of Lydia and Gerald Stansbury, Sr. and his wife Barbara of Jeanerette and his grandchildren, Logan Rosamond, Ridge Rosamond, Kaleb Stansbury, Kennady Stansbury, Karson Stansbury and Kade Linn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine Stansbury, Sr. and Elise Migues Stansbury and his brothers, Sam Stansbury, Sr. and Johnny Ray Stansbury.
Pallbearers will be Logan Rosamond, Ridge Rosamond, Kaleb Stansbury, Karson Stansbury, Kade Linn and Stoney Linn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Antoine Stansbury, Jr. and Gerald Stansbury, Sr.
