Robert Lee "Looney Ben" Hebert
January 7, 1945 — August 23, 2018
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM at David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St. and will continue on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 8:00 AM until time of service. Recitation of the Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the funeral home with the Men’s Rosary Group.
A native of Lafayette and a resident of New Iberia, Robert went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 6:55 PM at Iberia Manor South Nursing Home. He loved his job. He was a Security Guard for many years, working for Cajun Coop, Hub and Accel and enjoyed the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a avid western movie fan, enjoyed cutting grass and singing songs as he listened to Lionel Richie.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Estelle and husband, Jimmy, Sr. of New Iberia and Angel Sonnier and husband Richard of New Iberia; four sisters, Linda Racca of Scott, Phyllis Estelle of Loreauville, Debbie Huval of Carencro and Peggy Collins and husband Tommy of Lafayette; two brothers, Harry Trahan and wife Bobby of Texas and Godchild Clifton Trahan, Jr. and wife Becky of Youngsville; four grand-daughters, Linda Hebert, Shantelle Estelle, April Comeaux and husband Jiles and Megan Sonnier and fiancée Castle Drummer, Jr; three great-granddaughters, Zoey Comeaux, Harlie Comeaux and Haven Drummer; six great-grandsons, Gaige Comeaux, Jaiden Kidwell, Landen Estelle, Brycen Tornblom, Casan Drummer and Raditz Gros.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Evelyn Hebert; mother, Honorine Trahan; step-father, Clifton Trahan, Sr.; father, Norris Hebert, step-mother, Rita Hebert; grandson, Jimmy Estelle, Jr; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Racca and Tommy Estelle.
Pallbearers will be Richard Sonnier, C. J. Drummer, Jiles Comeaux, Harry Trahan, Jimmy Estelle, Sr. and Gaige Comeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clifton Trahan, Jr. Cory Theriot, Jaiden Kidwell, Landen Estelle, Brycen Tornblom and Casan Drummer.
In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with some of the funeral expenses.
Special thanks to the faculty and staff of Bridgeway hospice and iberia manor south nursing home we appreciate the effort and care you guys provided in making sure Robert was comfortable til the end. Also special thanks to C.J. Drummer and all of the family and friends for helping in providing remarkable care for LOONEY BEN we love and appreciate you ALL!!!
